TESTIMONIALS

“The book arrived on Saturday, just in time to curl up on the couch and read it over the weekend. I’ve collected US railroad books starting in…
the early seventies. If I compare your book with the ones I have, yours ranks among the very top. Added to that you published the book yourself:
a thoroughly professional publication which is way above the quality of most self-published books. Thanks for the careful packaging.
I think there were a few more…lines in Washington…worth your attention.” Mario Bernkopf, Weinstadt Germany

"A masterful work."
Susan Rohrer—Education Coordinator, Capitol Campus Museum--Olympia, WA

“Holter and McAbee have produced an excellent book. Lavishly illustrated with vintage photographs capturing scenes of a century ago along
the Tacoma and Eastern Railroad.”
Eatonville Dispatch, March 8, 2006, page A5.

Many thanks for your lovely book. [The University of Washington] acquisitions librarian has reviewed the book and decided to acquire a copy

collection. Carol Van Natta, Assistant Chancellor UWT—Tacoma, WA

It is a marvelous book and the amount of research that you and Clark did is absolutely incredible. It is a magnificent undertaking, and I doubt
if any railroad in the world ever got such a complete written history. My congratulations on a job well done.
L. Tom Murray, President, Murray Pacific Corporation—Palm Springs, CA

There's a whole lot o'stuff in there...what a tremendous amount of work! Hugely worthwhile effort--reader practically experiences the
TE of a century (or more) ago! It's a really terrific read w/lots o'good details for both historians and modelers! Art Jacobsen--Helena, MT

An A-1 book, in fact, 2 books incorporated into one great book. Bob Tschida—Tacoma, WA

I was pleased to recently purchase and read your wonderful book. As a native son, born and raised in Longmire, I have a deep interest in the local area. Over the last 20+ years, along with others, I have been researching the early human history of Mt. Rainier National Park. As you are probably aware, the boundaries become somewhat blurred and the research spills over. The research answers many questions and creates more. Jim Ellis—Spokane, WA

I actually picked the book up on Wednesday from Katy's Antiques--Real nice lady. The book contained more information than I anticipated, and I know my boss liked it. Jay Rasmusson—Puyallup, WA

I saw the post card you brought in for my co-worker. I've already seen your website, that's what sold me. Shari LaCroix—Olympia, WA

Dear Mr. Holter, My husband has been begging for this book “Rails To Paradise.” Is there any possible chance you could mail this to us immediately? Kathy Perrigo—Yakima, WA

Yes indeed, 2 books! I received my book and am so excited about it that my friend needs one also. This is truly a wonderful book and I appreciate it and the research that has gone into it. Thank You. George Green—Eatonville, WA

Gracie Pauly—Puyallup, WA
I also want to say thanks to Clark McAbee and Russell Holter for a great book on western Washington Railroading and Logging. Rails to Paradise
is a great study of the economics of the area during some very trying times when fortunes were made and lost in a relative short time span. All-in-all
a good read.
Bob Boring—Boring, OR

I just started to read your recent Rails to Paradise book and would like to say, you have done a great job on the book! Tyler Whitcomb—Olympia, WA

Volume 2!
Eric W.—Millburn, NJ
Neat book, Russ, well done! William Walker—Northbend, WA

I think you have a winner. This is not just a coffee-table picture book. By specifically focusing on the railroad and its reason for existence, the timber industry, you have managed to provide a solid history of the South Sound and its environs. I will read and reread your book from cover to cover as I revisit that summer nearly 40 years ago when I worked on that stretch of railroad. I have held many jobs in my lifetime, but I can say with all sincerity, that none has been as rewarding as when I spent the summer replacing ties and raising track with Extra Gang #4227. Thanks for your efforts. Ray Alkofer—Yakima, WA

The book is beautiful. LW—Olympia, WA

We are adding…your wonderful book to our collection. CC—Olympia, WA

The "LCL shipment" arrived today! Oh my... I've been pawing thru for the past hour. Some GREAT reading ahead! Quite the combo in your book...the T&E and Give'er Snoose. He he, I can see how they fit together though. Thank you kindly for your efforts in getting "Rails" into print and for shipping to me. I look forward to many satisfying hours ahead with my nose in the book.
